Gerrymandering of the Minds' Psyche "What became of the Black People of Sumer?" the traveller asked the old man. "For ancient records show that the people of Sumer were Black. What happened to them?" "Ah, the old man sighed. They lost their history, so they died." - A Sumer Legend "I am talking of millions of men who have been skillfully injected with fear, inferiority complexes, trepidation, servility, despair, abasement." - By Aime Cesaire I have been meaning to write on this subject on the History, Customs, Traditions, Culture, Languages, Rites and Practices of the African South Africans, for a long time.
In my past Hubs, I have tried to cover ground on the lives of Africans in Africa and South Africa and what they have been going through for the past 300-plus years of oppression, subjugation, depression, repression and the intensely and extreme violation of their humanity, culture, customs, land and existence. This is a very serious point I am about to discuss: i.e., how, when and why this was done and is still being done; also, what was life, culture and customs of Africans in the South of Sahara and southern Africa like before and after the coming of the Europeans later-on deep and further into this Hub; and what this life is like today.
In the process I will give a serious version of Modern African culture, and an even more deeper historical delineation and concrete historical cultural breakdown, i.e., the customs, culture and practices of the Nguni as narrated by themselves-and also using African-centered references to solidify and anchor the discussion I am about to lay out below. The topic I am embarking on may not be popular or much known subject, [Maybe too long for the Internet], but I am going to try and unpack this historical phenomenon of a distorted and dysfunctional African society and picture[image] of African Culture and Customs that we read about today, and how the remnants of this African culture we see today affects Africans in
Foot Pain their lives and existence in the past and at presently: that of being Oppressed, suppressed, depressed, repressed, enslaved, colonized and stripped off all their cultures, customs, tradition, languages, and have poverty and all types of diseases imposed on them; and, how their cultural practices and traditional rites have been relegated to the inferior status of being regarded as irrelevant, closer to child babble/barbaric and need not be paid any attention to, whatsoever: i.
e., a culture best forgotten for it has never been of any use to the Africans themselves. As of the writing of this Hub, the level of subjugation, neglect, being ignored, having imposed ignorance hunger a constant, and a bleak future and dreadful intolerable existence, has gone into over-drive! Also, later in the Hub, we look as to how the remnants of the present African culture can be looked at anew and thus Africans be able draw inspiration from its present presence and manifestation; also, the past history[as taught by Apartheid] and cultural and customary and traditional historiography issues will be addressed in order to give a complete picture of the past and present-and scholars from the African centered perspectives will be used in order to add muscle to the skeleton of the history of Africans South Africans.
That question—first posed in 2002 when Glass applied for admittance to the New York State Bar Association—moved to California in 2007, when Glass applied to join its bar. Glass’s California application has now traveled to the top of the legal food chain, where the state Supreme Court agreed in November to hear arguments on Glass’s moral fitness to become a member of the State Bar of California. If Stephen Glass were an ordinary applicant, the California Committee
Toe Pain of Bar Examiners would have readily approved the graduate of Georgetown University law school (magna cum laude, 2000) after he passed the California bar exam and applied for admittance.
But Glass was an exceptional case: He gained worldwide notoriety in 1998 after dozens of stories he wrote while working as a Washington journalist in the mid-to-late 1990s were discovered to be fabricated. These pieces described incidents that never took place and attributed quotations to made-up people. Most of these tainted stories appeared in The New Republic , where he worked, but others were published in Policy Review , Harper’s , George , and Rolling Stone .
(According to court documents, Glass settled a lawsuit filed against him by D.A.R.E., the subject of his Rolling Stone piece, for $25,000.) The scam ended in May 1998 after reporting and inquires from Forbes Digital Tool editor Adam L. Penenberg tipped the New Republic off about the fishiness of Glass’s piece about “Jukt Micronics,” and all of his journalistic work was scrutinized for lies. The legal argument under debate in California isn’t whether Glass made stuff up willy-nilly in his journalism.
That verdict was delivered long ago; you can read the eye-popping details in Buzz Bissinger’s September 1998 Vanity Fair feature. The question before the California Supreme Court is the 39-year-old Glass’s current moral state, and whether he has sufficiently rehabilitated himself to practice law today . Glass ‘s legal struggle to join the bar goes back almost a decade. According to court filings, Glass passed the New York Bar Examination in 2000 and applied for admission to the bar in July 2002.
But he withdrew his application on Sept. 22, 2004 after the bar notified him he would not likely be approved on moral character grounds. He moved to California that fall and passed its bar exam in 2007, but the Committee of Bar Examiners rejected Glass on moral character grounds in 2009. The committee holds that Glass has not rehabilitated himself, waiting more than 11 years to fully list and identify all of the fabrications in his journalism.
Glass appealed the decision to the State Bar Court of California hearing department, where Judge Richard A. Honn overturned the committee decision on Aug. 19, 2010, in Glass’s favor. The committee, still not wanting a confessed liar as a member of the California bar, appealed once more to a three-judge panel.
"Grungy" dressing has moved from the literal definition to an aesthetic preference adopted by many who prefer to keep their clothes clean. Instead of spending big bucks on bleached and torn designer denims, alter an old pair you were ready to donate or trash - or pick up a well-fitted pair from the secondhand shop to test your DIY skills. How to Shorten Suits Fit is the most important part of a suit, and jacket sleeves and pants can be shortened for a better and more flattering fit.
With a proper fitting traditional suit jacket, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of shirt sleeves should be visible at the wrist when worn with arms down at the sides. Suit pants traditionally come unhemmed and hem length is largely a matter of personal preference. Wear shoes when trying on pants and make sure the pants are sitting at the waist line before marking hem length. What Is an Oxford Dress Shirt? DERRYN HINCH: Even though these mums have never met before...they're incredibly close, very much connected. Cindy, Anne and Michelle have been brought together by a shared experience. Together, they've lost six children - Jai, Tyler, Bailey, Letitia, Kyle and Kelly - all murdered by their fathers. MEGAN NORRIS: They wanted to get even, and the best way to do that was by harming the children, taking away the most important thing to them.
CINDY: One minute, I was this bubbly, outgoing mum that had three beautiful-natured boys - and, all of a sudden, that was just, it was gone. DERRYN: Today, Cindy is in the best place she's been in a long time - with second husband Stephen and her
Ball Of Foot Pain two little boys, Hezekiah and Isaiah. But never far from her thoughts is her old life - married to a man she thought she knew. Robert Farquharson swept Cindy Gambino off her feet. The couple tied the knot in August 2000, bought a house near Geelong and raised their three sons.
Jai was the oldest, then came Tyler, the youngest Bailey. Farquharson was good with them but he was a possessive husband and he and Cindy fought constantly. In 2004, he moved out. Farquharson still visited his boys but he didn't like it when Cindy made friends with a local concreter, Stephen Moules. STEPHEN: Turning up at my place at ungodly hours in the morning because Cindy's car was parked there just to see what we were doing.
DERRYN: Didn't you also tell him that, "I'm not trying to be a father to your children - you are their father"? STEPHEN: Yeah, I clearly said to him, "I will never try and be a father to your children. You're their father, you're their dad and now, more than ever, that's what you've got to be." Little did I know that things would end up the way they did. DERRYN: Father's Day, 2005. Farquharson had spent the afternoon with Jai, Tyler and Bailey. As he drove them back to Cindy's, he veered off the road and into a dam.
The car filled with water. He turned off the lights and the engine, opened his door and swam to safety, leaving his sons strapped and trapped in the back seat. The car went under. Farquharson flagged down a passing motorist. Instead of calling 000, he insisted on being taken to Cindy's house to break the news in person. It was all part of his cruel and deliberate plan. Farquharson obviously always planned to save himself. MEGAN NORRIS: He needed to be around, to observe that grief.
DERRYN: Megan Norris attended every day of Farquharson's murder trial. An author and journalist, she's become friends with Cindy, written a book on the case, and says Farquharson had an evil motive for seeing Cindy that night.
I've got a confession to make. I like watching science programs and nature programs. I recently watched a National Geographic special on The Science of the Punch and learned a lot about martial arts that I hadn't considered before. I learned that the single most powerful punch - by a factor of 30% - was from good old fashioned Western boxing. I saw a lot about transferring energy from the back leg through the core of the body that I'd known before, and some really cool stuff from ninjitsu that I'd never seen before. But what impressed me most of all was watching their section on Mauy Thai, and how some of the combinations in Mauy Thay deliver the ultimate combination of economy of motion and force to the body.
This inspired me to check out some Mauy Thai instructional videos. Yeah, yeah, it's Yoshi talking about Yet Another Couch Potato Style Kung Fu Style, right? Not quite. The thing about Muay Thai instructional DVDs, since Muay Thai is, effectively, a mixed martial arts full contact sport, is that the DVDs are really about bare bones practicality. They're not going to load you up with lots of "Contemplate the caterpillar weaving its cocoon" philosophy - they get straight on with it, covering stances, blocks and traps, and how to combine them into combinations.
Muay Thai words from three basic stances - the closed stance, which is used for kicks, the side stance, which is used for traps and setting up joint locks, and the horse stance, which is designed for powerful punches, and combinations. There's a lot of emphasis in the Muay Thai instruction DVDs on good
Heel Spur stance and good footwork; you have to be able to go from a grab-and-pull to a head grab to a knee to the sternum, and for that you need good balance.
I'll be honest - I had an easier time with this one than most will; I've worked with Wing Chung Kung Fu and jiu jutsu for years, and a lot of the concepts transfer over well; most of what I got out of Muay Thai was the focus on pure pragmatism. It's entirely about taking the block and setting up the counterstrike, be it with knee, elbow, fist or foot. I could see from the Mauy Thai instructional DVD that I got that real Muay Thai practitioners get hit a lot - there's much more contact in the DVD than I'm used to seeing in training or sparring.
Following along, I got a good workout, and was really glad it was just me and a freestanding bag rather than me and some kid who's 10 years younger than me. Seriously, that Muay Thai instructional DVD made me feel my years. My knees were aching when I was done, and I was soaked. It was a good workout, like most martial arts training is. I can say this - I'd never try this with another person without some serious protective gear on me!
Tissue forceps are nonlocking, grasping tools. sometimes its proper to use the left hand to assist with functions and help with the right. this factor means that tissue forceps are continually in use to the needle holder, clamp, dilators, surgical scissors or possibly the other surgical tool thats in your right hand. Long practice to develop facility with this most-used surgical instruments will be time well well invested. hold the tissue forceps in a way where one blade behaves as an an continuation to the opposite fingers and the other blade as an extension for the thumb.
grab using the forceps, while doing a similar motion like grasp using the other hand. The shanks against the index finger metacarpalphalangeal joint, gives the widest range of maneuverability with the forceps. when placing the shank in your palm. The tips can only gain access to a wound by extreme flexing of the wrist, doing this will restrain your wrist movement with the forceps. Grabbing Your Forceps - When alternately needing to grab with forceps and fingers, afther sewing then the tying of the sutures, when palming the forceps.
Can save time lost from repeatedly discarding & getting them. Holding the forceps with the ring and little fingers, with the distal interphalangeal joints in extension frees up the middle finger to maneuver through a larger range of motion than when the forceps are grabbed by flexed phalanges. the muscle belly looks similar to the flexor digitorum profundus muscle, little fingers and ring, you can find a way to flex your middle finger by flexing the distal joints of your 2 fingers.
Having the distal joints of the ring & little finger in extension make sure when you grasp the forceps that you have the flexor digitorum profundus muslce relaxed, this will free up your middle finger for better movement. you will need the use of your left hand pinky and ring finger for one-handed tying, try to swift your palmed forceps to use a pinching motion with your index finger & thumb. The flexor digitorum profundus sends tendons towards the distal fingers of the long, ring and small digits, so when you flex the distal interphalangeal joints of your 2 fingers this will also flex the third.
Bad habits are always more comfortable than newly tried, superior ways. Changing from "hold" to a "use" stance can be done with 1 motion climbing up & down the forceps, when they are
Bunion Protectors grabbed for the first time at the proper spot with index and thumb. The correct grasp is not difficult with the palm facing up, as gravity causes the forceps to sit against the palm, making ultimate metacarpal-phalangeal joint rotation of the index & thumb finger.
Grasping the right spot of the forceps is alot easier than by turning down your palm, so that gravity gives the forceps away from the palm; Your thumb & index can now grab the approiate place without massive flexing of the metacarpal-phalangeal joints.
To choose the right hairstyle for the right occasion match the hairstyle to your shoes.
This may sound silly, but think about it for a moment. If you aren't wearing shoes, you don't need to worry about what to do with your hair. It isn't the places we go barefoot we worry about, is it? Of course not. We know what shoes to wear everywhere we go, and choosing the right hairstyle for the right occasion should be just as easy.
Shoes, and hairstyles, break down into three categories. Casual, Business, and Dressy. If you know which shoes to wear for which occasion, then you will find it just that easy to know what to do with your hair for every occasion.

As always, start with clean hair, do not over condition, and forget the doo-dads and gee-gaws. They are too sporty. Go with up-swept hair in hidden combs, hairpins tucked under the hair, add a scarf, or use a hairpin or bobby pin to invisibly attach ribbon tied into a simple bow.
Not sure what color to choose? Ask your shoes. Match, or contrast, color and style, so you look pulled together from the top of your head to the soles of your shoes.
Wearing thigh-high boots, mean black spiked stilettos, green alligator skin shoes with hot pink rhinestones? Good news from your shoes! You will be able to go wild with yourself!
