As with the majority of human beings, I started out playing RuneScape because the majority of my friends at that time were playing it. The fact that it evolved into a browser-based game was a huge element of the game's success the low barrier to access, coupled with RuneScape's branching complexity and intensity was the reason I kept coming to it over long periods of time and that's something I wanted to replicate with Melvor Idle."
With Malcolm being quite open about his concept, word quickly was heard from Jagex that a fan had turned into creating a game built entirely on its own MMO. One of the team employees flagged the game to be controlled and director of product Control Chris Pfeiffer telling us his team was inspired by the method of "how many of the ideas were done and how much that was in line with RuneScape."
