FIFA 23 also features time-limited Preview Packs from Nfkjasfas's blog

Despite consistent pressure from regulators, pay-to-win microtransactions are undoubtedly a problem in FIFA 23. The loot boxes come in the form of players-filled card packs within FIFA's well-known Ultimate Team mode FUT 23 Coins. It is possible to purchase FIFA Points as bundles, starting at PS0.79 to get 100 FIFA Points and rising to an incredible PS79.99 which is 12,000 FIFA Points. A Premium Gold Pack costs 150 FIFA Points and contains 12 gold-rated players and consumables that can be used within the game or sold through the transfer market.

According to the company's policy, EA told Eurogamer that FUT's Lootboxes "are an integral part that of FIFA that players love," and that "giving players the option to spend on their own if they choose to are fair." There are no plans to change its strategy in the direction of "surprise mechanics" unless laws are passed that require it to.

It's not going to make the situation any better however, it's worth mentioning that because of some of those laws you can currently set weekly limits on FIFA Points spent and pack that are opened within Ultimate Team, and see the likelihood of getting a highly rated player before opening an actual pack. FIFA 23 also features time-limited Preview Packs, which let you examine the contents of a pack before deciding whether to buy it. However, it's currently only available for one single pack that is refreshed once per day.

FIFA 23 is a bombastic end of the game (under its current title, at least) with a definite focus on theatrical flair. FUT Moments, action replays and games that are virally popular like Power Shots make it a more thought-provoking, memorable game of football simulation with deliberate defending and plenty of action and goals buy FIFA 23 Coins. But EA's Spartan approach to the modes which aren't generating money makes sure FIFA 23 is an all-too-familiar game compared to previous versions, and Ultimate Team's aggressive focus on microtransactions continues to take all the fun out of it.
