"First quarter of 2014. we're planning to begin filming that WOW WOTLK Classic Gold film," Roven said. "We're going forward, obviously Legendary is making that film, and I'm having a amazing time with [director Duncan Jones]."The script, written by Blood Diamond and K-PAX scribe Charles Leavitt-- is being kept "under cover." A past report pegged the budget for the film at "north from $100 million."
The World of Warcraft film has not been without controversy. Spider-Man director Sam Raimi -- who was at one time slated to direct the film--claimed on March 1st that Blizzard tainment mismanaged the film.Chief creative officer at the games company World of Warcraft fired back and said at the time, "I don't want to cause controversy, but there are two sides to every story. ..."
World of Warcraft the game was home to 8.3 million users at the closing of March. The most recent expansion was Mists of Pandaria, which was launched in September.
Blizzard: World of Warcraft is not set to turn into pay-to-win
World of Warcraft has more microtransactions within the game today than ever before (and it sounds like more are on the way), but it's not guiding down a path toward becoming pay-to-win, creative director Alex Afrasiabi says.
"That isn't a option we're comfortable taking in WoW," Afrasiabi told P2Pah in the present day during a sneak peek of the forthcoming expansion Warlords of Draenor.Pay-to-win systems undermine player confidence as well as Blizzard has no intention of creating a trust issue, Afrasiabi said.
"Game design, half of it is about trust. In my opinion, our players trust us implicitly. You do not intend to undermine the trust between the developer and the player. And I think pay-to-win does that. And I think that is really our stance; we do not believe in pay-to-wins within World of Warcraft . This isn't going to happen."
In the last week, it was discovered--but not confirmed that in the near future, World of Warcraft players might be able to shell out $60 for an auto-leveling of a character's level to the current cap of 90. Previously, players had to put in a lot of time or more to reach this level. Many fans saw this as an indication of the quality of the gaming experience was being eroded.
Players can also use real-world money to purchase virtual items, such as mounts and pets that are available in the game. These microtransactions are on top of World of Warcraft 's existing 15-month subscription. It appears microtransactions are going to play a significant role in the future of Blizzard Entertainment since the company has established a "Microtransaction strategy" business division.
The increase in virtual goods being offered for sale of virtual items World of Warcraft does not seem to have pushed players away. Actually, World of Warcraft ended 2013 with 7.8 million players which is an increase of 200k from the previous quarter. Of obviously, this is down from a record of 12 million users following the launch of Wrath of the Lich King in the year 2010. But growth more than 9 years into a product's lifecycle--especially a paid MMO--is nothing short of buy WOTLK Gold impressive.
