Reaper of Souls, with its dynamically generated adventure modes is set to be that next layer. Mayberry says that the expansion will make the game more of an open-world sandbox and less like a directing experience that closely mimics the original games.
"If you examine the classic Diablo, the first game. Diablo, the first incarnation of Diablo is a game that plays through that story narrative. This was the structure that they came up with back then, and one of the main challenges in creating Diablo was: "What is it that we hold onto from previous games and what do we alter to make it better?'" That focus on just the story "made the game feel less engrossing than it really was," says Mayberry. "Because you're always driven, go there and now you're forced to you're going to go there."
People who have been staying away from Diablo because of its subpar range of loot may also discover enough new items to warrant an additional look.
